Living in Boston now, the girls moved in with mom in Albany when M and I left for here. still working in the Strip Clubs. now at a GREAT place downtown called The Glass Slipper. I really do not remember how I stumbled upon the wonderful art of Emek, but fortune was smiling on me today and I somehow did. His poster art is psychedelic 60's imagery colliding with 90's post industrial iconography. An amazing coupling of the past and the future. His posters range from dark and foreboding to blindingly colorful and light. Very much like the range of bands he has done work for, to say eclectic would not be giving enough credit. Nick Cave, Erykah Badu, Ben Harper, Kraftwerk, KMFDM, the list could go on and on, and every poster is amazing. By all means go check out his web site, well worth wasting an hour or so rummaging around. I know I have.

A GREAT Sunday....

Wow...wonderful...a full two days off in a row!! Marvelous!! Sunday was perfect in every way. Called me dad of course, wished him a happy fathers day. Then started preparing for the concert. It turned out that our friend Sandy could not attend, so we ended up having an extra ticket. This, it turns out, worked perfectly as our friend apochellipsis needed a ride und ticket. We were more than happy to provide both. Zipped out of Smalbany around 5:30, hit Clifton Park to meet up with Fiendish and Ryan, and off to Saratoga Performing Arts Center for NIN, Bauhaus, and Peaches. For the first time in a long time M and I got to have a WHOLE day alone together...WOW a nine thing indeed, very long over-due indeed. For about three years now chaoticerotic and I have had a bag of shrooms in the freezer (now nothing but shroom dust) at this point I figured that they were probably not very potent anymore. Well....when we arrived at the parking lot (witch I will comment was absolutely DISGUSTING!! Dave Matthew had just played Fri and Sat. and the fans just plain TRASHED the place. I was totally appaled at the condition of the parking lots, all of them, trash EVERYWHERE....-sigh-) M and I ate some of the shrooms, me more than her. About thirty minutes later I knew that my prior assessment of the strength was VERY inaccurate!! By the time NIN hit the stage I was tripping rather well, comfortably high to enjoy the ABSOLOUTLY INSANELY AMAZING light show. And that is not just the shrooms talking. I mean it was just plain off the hook good. Whoever the lighting designer is deserves a Grammy, or a Tony, or a Teckie....or whatever award is given out for the most spectularriffic lighting design EVER!! Behind the band was a full sized video screen, and in front of the band was a L.E.D. screen that rolled down in front of the band causing a visual "sandwich" effect. Musically they happily stayed closer *chuckle* to the older albums. Playing my favorite album, Broken, almost completely!! JOY!! Trent had his morose moments when he did Hurt and Something I Can Never Have. I however had a hard time taking it seriously as Trent is now rather buff with a crew cut, looking more agro than sad...^_^

Bauhaus was GREAT. They looked like a bunch of kids up there. David J of course in head to toe black, sunglasses and all, looking as sexy as the devil himself. Daniel Ash romped onto stage his hair in a cupie doll top-knot, black pants, boots, shirt, sunglasses and a FABULOUS white rabbit fur vest!! SEXY!! Kevin Haskins still looks 25 and always will, I swear he is the Dorian Grey of Bauhaus!! And of course Peter....looking more and more like Lord Byron as time goes by. Looking fabulous in his black button down and tight pants. He flowed and flapped during Severance like he was 27 all over again. It was just a wonderful set!! My favorite part was at the end of Stigmata Martyr Peter was plinking on the keyboard, looked at the crowd with a mischievous twinkle and said in his best Peter voice "It's a peeanoooo.." ROFL ooohhh... just to much!!

Peaches was good, but made me feel like I was at work.

And lastly but very much not least....I finally got to meet the wonderful jules_v A.K.A Trilby!! YAY!! Great girl, sweet, talkative, smart and really cute to boot!! What could be better.

Frak.....gotta work....more later.

Just killing time until my TWO days off, and Bauhaus/NIN tomorrow night. So far I have remembered that I really used to enjoy playing the game HeroQuest. It has been YEARS since I have thought of the game, much less played. I wonder what the chances of finding a cheap copy? Hmmm... off to ebay I would guess.

Of all people....tonight a customer at work must have noticed how bored I looked, because out of nowhere he says.."here...go check out this site...Baen Free Library a 100% free online book site. WOW!! GREAT!! All Sci-fi, so check it out if you enjoy good free Sci-fi books. At the moment I am reading Berserker Throne by Fred Saberhagen. A great book that I have not read in years. I REALLY do hate my birthday....I have never fully understood the importance of celebrating ones day of birth. Why? As far as I am concerned the only thing a birthday is good for is a reminder that you are just this much closer to being dead..Of course when you are a child things are different. People celebrate for the sake of the kids, presents, cake, friends. Now however the whole thing just plain depresses me.I don't want TO GET ANY OLDER!!! Fuck mortality....I hence forth age under duress!! I shall go kicking and screaming into middle age!!

On a happy note, after Saturday night I get two days off...IN A ROW!! Whoo-Hoo!! Sunday is the Bauhaus/NIN show (it is billed the other way around, but I just CAN'T put NIN before Bauhaus!!) at SPAC!! We are going to have such a good time. We got lawn seats, so we can just bring a blanket and binoculars and chill on the lawn. SPAC is set in such a way that you can see well from almost anywhere. M and I saw Bauhaus in `98 for the Resurrection tour at Harbor Lights in Boston which was absolutely phenomenal!! I have been a Bauhaus fan since about 89-90...long after the breakup, so thought that I would never have a chance to see the band perform live. Now I have the chance to see them a second time!! Oh joy of joys!! David J., Kevin Haskins, Daniel Ash....and of course...Peter. I am all a quiver!! As for NIN...Trent is probably on of the "molding" bands of my life. Broken was my escape album...just plain raw angst....To many nights were spent drunk, crying and cutting to that album. Way to many. I still love NIN...but everything after Broken just seemed to go downward since then.(small pun intended) M and I spent one of our first nights together at the NIN concert with Manson in....oh gods.....a long time ago....so there is that attachment to NIN as well. All in all I am very much looking forward to the concert, the weather is supposed to be sunny and 90 a rarity recently, and I expect that pretty much EVERYBODY I know locally will be there, so it should be a bunch of fun. Oh yeah and Peaches is the opening act. PEACHES!?!?! I like Peaches enough, but....huh? She really just does not go with the other two. Confused!?!

I really do enjoy stumbling across good artists with whom I am not familiar. Just today a random icon brought me to the marvel that is James Ensor. Wonderfully morbid expressionism and surrealism. How can you go wrong with a piece titled "Skeletons fighting over a smoked herring" CLASSIC!! Yay art!!

For the record, ever since her grounding my daughter Brittany has been an absolute gem to be around. Mind you she is probably sucking up to get off punishment early, but I have enjoyed our time together recently. A nice change from the last week of confrontation and drama. Gods forbid we have actually had some nice conversations about school, friends, and what have you. Crimson's last day of school was today, Britt gets out next week. I need to find ways of amusing them during the day. I cant let Brittany think she can do what ever she wishes. Some kind of structure must be implemented for the summer.

I found two rather fun icons...one for my baby.....one for fun.....

Icons.... )

Last night was a particular joy. Our old room mate and very dear friend Cookie (A.K.A. Eric) whom I have not seen in ages, stooped by to say hi. We ended up chatting for a bit, and then on a whim dove head first into a GREAT game of Axis & Allies. Which of course ended up lasting for seven hours!! Just your typical run o` the mill game of Axis & Allies. I played the allies, Cookie took the axis. Germany did not start out to well, and were not very strong throughout the game. This was due, mostly, to Russia. The Russians were probably the strongest country in the game, controlling most of northern China and the far east. All the while keeping the Germans down with, as per history, a HORDE of infantry sitting in western Europe, accompanied by a pair of Yak's(fighter) and a handful of tanks. The Japanese had a really good game. In one major naval engagement they took out three of my battleships, four subs, and an aircraft carrier. Needless to say America did not recover at all, the war was over for them at that point. Soon after they were learning Japanese in Australia. A very nice night, it was great to see and spend time with Cookie. I had forgotten how much I enjoy spending time with him. After being his room mate for seven? eight? years, he is the closest thing to a brother I had ever had.

My baby finally got home today (yay!!) I was asleep unfortunately. She had to run to work at the Co-op, so I did not get to see her before I left for work. Oh well...whats another few hours? I just want this friday night to end so I can get home and get snuggles!!

....Oh yeah....I almost spaced!!......I met a very nice young lady through the wonders of the intra web!! She had left a comment on the Nitemares Message Board inquiring about the DJ (yup..that's me). From her screen name I found her Myspace, and introduced myself. Turns out that she is a very smart, artistic, nice chick who just happens to have FABULOUS taste in music!! It is always nice to meet new cool people who have nothing to do with the club.

Aaaanywho........I should at least PRETEND to work.......

Labor Law Question......

So it would seem that my employer is trying to screw me and my fellow employees out of money. For nine years I have been working for a set salary. Just last week that all changed, and we were switched to hourly wages. I now get paid the minimum New York State hourly rate. The problem comes here.... I am getting paid hourly...yet we have no time cards, nor a working time clock. Now every week I get a paycheck for exactly 39.5 hours!! When I know FOR SURE that if I were accurately accounting for ALL my time spent here I am over 40 hours a week. So here I pose the question. Is this legal? Can I get an hourly wage with no accurate accounting of my actual hours? I have been floundering through NYS Labor Law, but have yet to find anything. Any help?

I was just wandering aimlessly about the club , when a little plastic container on the floor. Curiosity overcame me so over I bent to investigate, and lo and behold it was a memory card holder for a digital camera. I slipped it into my pocket and went back to my booth. When in the sanctity of my booth I took it out to find that is was not only a memory card holder, but one with a 2 GB memory card in it!!!! EMPTY TOO!! I had been looking to buy one but $90.00 was just to darn much. Well I guess that problem has been fixed!! YAY for free 2GB memory cards!!!

Happily Crimson called from Ocean City today to inform me that she will be arriving home from her two week trip to New Orleans tomorrow!! YAY!! From what she said in our quick conversation they had a great time. She said they spent a good amount of time planting specific plants to help with the up-take of bio-waste and certain chemicals from the soil. Good for them, The Albany Free School is so great for providing such an excursion for my little one!!

Work is adding stresses again, this time by deciding to screw with my pay. The whole thing caused such an up-roar that it has been, for the moment, put off to explore other options. I guess the threat of loosing all of his employees in less than an hour made The Cocksucker from the Seventh Plane of Hell Stuart re-think his decision. For how long I am not sure.

I really wish Albany had better avenues of employment for voice-over actors. The only thing available around here are radio ad's, which are all done by local radio DJ's. I REALLY need to explore getting out of Albany and moving closer to parents. It is just such a daunting task that even thinking of it overwhelms me.

Note to self.....do research on the profitability of selling comics, collector cards, figures, and other such items on e-bay. Now where to find an up to date comics and card price guide.

*ponders*

this is neat.....

* Entering the sequence * # 0 6 # on your cell phone's keypad may produce a display showing a unique fifteen-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) string. Not all cell phone manufacturers necessarily implement this feature.

* Should your cell phone be stolen, you may be able to report its IMEI to your service provider and have it flagged as invalid, preventing the thief from using your phone with a different wireless number or a different service. Again, the availability of this option can vary from area to area.
